| 1. All teams will have 5 minutes to warm up prior to each game. 2. Warm-up balls will not be supplied. Each team must bring its own. 3. All teams will play with a Number 6 ball. 4. All games will be 4-on-4 (two boys and two girls). a. If a team does not have enough boys or girls, it must play short. 5. All junior games will be 12 minute halves, stopped time. All intermediate games will be 12 minute halves, stopped time. 6. Halftime will be 5 minutes, 3 minutes if behind schedule. 7. Each team will be allowed 1 - 30 second, 1 - 60 second time out in the first half and 1 - 30 second and 2 - 60 second time outs in the second half with 1 time out in over time. No carry over of time outs. Coaches must notify the scorer's table when they want a time out and the table shall notify the official(s). 8. Once a team is winning by a margin of 20 points, they must play half court defence. If a team fails to do so, play will be stopped and possession returned at half court. Score will not be added to the score clock but added to the score sheet, please explain this to parents and fans. 9. Eight team fouls per half for penalty - 2 shots. 10. A player is disqualified after a total of 5 personal and/or technical fouls. a. A technical foul is assigned to the offender and counts as a team foul. An indirect technical is assigned to the head coach as well and counts towards his/her disqualification. 11. In the event of a tie, teams shall play a three-minute overtime, stopped time. a. Each team shall have one full time-out for each overtime period. b. Fouls carry over during the overtime. 12. Coaches cannot purchase a time-out with a technical foul. 13. Teams will have 20 seconds to present a substitute for a player that has fouled out at the scorekeeper`s table. It is not a time out. 14. Please enter your players on the score sheet in ascending numerical order. Please print your players` complete names. 15. Players wearing jewellery will not be allowed to play until it has been removed. Players are not allowed to tape over jewellery. 16. Improper roster by a coach is a correctable error. It is not a technical foul. 17. Technical Fouls (may be preceded by a warning from an official): a. Shirts not tucked into shorts; b. Comments that question the authority or the professionalism of officials, timers, and score keepers; c. Use of profane or vulgar language and/or gestures at any time;; d. Unsportsmanlike conduct (slamming the ball, taunting, teasing, showboating but not limited only to these behaviours. 18. Tournament ejections (a player or a coach): a. Two technical fouls for a player; b. Two direct or one direct plus two indirect technical fouls for a coach;; c. Intent to injure (flagrant foul); d. Deliberate and continuous acts meant to demean or demoralize the opposing team or players from teams (own team included), or any official (including scorekeepers and timers); e. Threats or attempted threats meant to cause injury (i.e. faking a punch or faking a pass to the face or telling someone they will be hurt) may also lead to ejection at the discretion of the site conveners. 19. The three point line will not be in effect at any level. 20. Teams receive two points for a win and one point for a loss. In the event of a 2 way tie, head-to-head match will be considered first. In the event of a 3 way tie, team(s) with the fewest points allowed will advance. If still tied, +/- will be considered. If still tied, team(s) with the most points will be considered. 21. A player that is of Junior age (grade 5/6) may play for the intermediate team (grade 7/8), but may not play for both teams during the tournament. A player who "plays up" for one game, may not then "play down." The team a player begins with is the team the player ends with. No player may play down. An intermediate age player may not play for the Junior team (grade 5/6) regardless of the circumstances. 22. Remember the objective of this tournament is to have fun and encourage sporting competition. 23. Coaches have responsibility to be a role model for their players. Players will follow your example. Set a positive example. 24. Each coach is responsible for the behaviour of their players both on and off the court. Please take your whole team off the school premises after a game or stay with them if you are playing later that day. 25. FIBA Basketball Rules will be applied on court by the officials. 26. Bring a first aid kit to every game. It is not the responsibility of the host school to supply players or coaches with first aid equipment. Host schools reserve the right to charge a user fee for first aid equipment. |
